Up Close and Personal with Sarah Colliver
Introduction
Hello Book Lovers,
It's #MeetTheAuthorMonday we are now counting down the days to the Lyde Court Book Fayre. Saturday 23rd May 2026.
Today we will get ‘up close and personal’ with Sarah Colliver.
Sarah was sent a selection of questions not necessarily to do with her books but just to get to know her a little better. So, without further ado, here are the questions Lucy's chose to complete:
Childhood
What’s your favourite childhood memory?
My mum and I used to walk the three miles into town when I was little. Part of the trip would involve a to visit the library. I loved books and was always excited to choose new ones to borrow. One day, whilst my pushchair was laden with shopping, I disappeared as my mum paid for an item. She was panicked and scared. She then had an idea and ran as fast as she could, pushing the heavy pushchair, straight to the library. She found me there on the floor, reading a book, oblivious to the frantic dash my mum had made and terror, which soon dissipated from her eyes! She said she didn’t know whether to be angry or proud.
Fantasy
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and what would you do with your superpower?
I would be happy enough to be cured of self-doubt and imposter syndrome. Without these weighing me down, I could be unstoppable! That’s a superpower in itself!
Work/Writing
Do you hear from your readers much, and what kind of things do they say?
I am super lucky to have lots of messages and interaction with my readers – which I LOVE! I love hearing all about what they think of certain characters, and how they imagine settings to look. One reader created me a model of one of the settings from Laundry Cottage – how they imagined the kitchen to look. That blew me away, as I had inspired this creation!
Relaxation
What is your favourite season? What do you look forward to doing most of all during this season?
I love each of the seasons for different reasons. Spring is full of hope and rebirth. Summer – longer days and warmth. Autumn here in the Forest, is golden and breathtaking. Winter is cosy and time to hunker down.
Personal
Share a funny incident from your life.
First date (with my now husband of 30 years), off for drinks and clubbing with another couple. I decide to try and look my best- without my glasses. Big mistake. We left the house, and there was a small chain fence which I did not see and fell flat on my face. Winded, and scuffed, I was mortified! We all still talk about it to this day!
Is there anything else you would like readers to know about you?
When my M.E allows, I write poetry and shorter, fast-paced fiction from my Forest of Dean home.
Thanks so much! See you soon 😊
